How a nutritional consultation works
Each client is unique and treated accordingly
People come to Janie Perry Nutrition for many reasons. Some are struggling to control sugar cravings, others want to lose weight for an important event, increase their energy levels or simply eat more healthily. Whatever your reason for seeking nutritional therapy, I will tailor my approach to where you want to go, at the pace you want to travel at.
What to expect from your consultation
Initially, I will send you a questionnaire to complete in advance of our first appointment. This will include your medical history to date plus any test results you may have. I will also ask you to complete a three-day food diary.
I work with people in Crowborough, the surrounding area and across the country, holding consultations online or at my clinic in Forest Row. At your first appointment, I will get to know more about you and your lifestyle so that we can discuss your goals. Then, we will work together to come up with specific, achievable and easy-to-follow dietary and, if appropriate, lifestyle changes for you to take on until our next appointment. This is usually seven days later for weight management but can be up to a month later.
Our follow-up appointments will be 30 minutes long depending on what we agree is best for you. During these follow-up appointments, we will discuss the plan you have been following and what worked for you and what didn’t. Based on what you tell me, I will suggest changes that we will work together to come up with an updated plan that works for you.

What’s the difference between a nutritionist and a holistic nutritional therapist?

My weight management approach focuses on sustainable and simple changes that are effective. There are no faddy diets and no deprivation. If anything, I encourage clients to eat more that they have been and more regularly. It may sound counterintuitive, but it works.
The Janie Perry Nutrition approach includes looking at your nutrition, activity, stress, sleep, emotional eating patterns, and daily routines to create a plan that fits your life. This is personalised nutrition. Not ‘one size fits all’.
Most clients see early changes: better energy, steadier appetite, reduced sugar cravings, improved sleep, and initial shifts in body composition. More significant progress develops over the coming weeks. Everyone’s body responds differently, and that’s one of the joys of this work: each client’s journey is unique.

Do you offer online nutrition consultations?

Yes. All Janie Perry Nutrition consultations are carried out online, making it easy to work together from anywhere. You’ll receive the same detailed assessment, tailored plan, and follow-up support as you would in person. We use the same link for each consultation to keep things simple.
Yes. I regularly support clients experiencing perimenopause and hormone-related changes in weight, energy, cravings, and body composition.
We focus on nutrition, balanced meals, strength training, sleep, stress and supplements (if appropriate), helping you understand what your body needs during this transition and what strategies actually make a difference.

Absolutely. Sugar cravings often have clear nutrition-related triggers such as low protein intake, irregular meals, stress, poor sleep, or undereating earlier in the day. We’ll identify what’s driving your cravings and build a personalised plan to improve blood sugar balance, appetite regulation, and emotional relationship with food so you feel more in control, without strict rules or deprivation.

Yes, very! We make it work for you! After our initial consultation, we’ll have a good idea of what your life requirements are and any constraints. We then check in and change these during our follow-up sessions, too.
Do you provide recipes and meal plans? Will your recipe packs work for me?

I can provide recipe packs suitable for your needs. There are also loads of recipes you can browse here.
My recipe packs work for all dietary requirements including pescatarians, vegetarians, and vegans. It doesn’t matter if you have high-energy needs or are looking at a low carb lifestyle, I have recipe packs for you! Get in touch and we’ll see what works in your case.
Can I drink alcohol while following one of your packages?

I suggest no alcohol in the early stages to get the best results. But we can work with low alcohol, too. I help you to choose the best forms of alcohol for you and give you the tools you need to manage your drinking to fit in with your lifestyle and goals moving forward.
What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies?

Will I need to purchase any special ingredients or supplements?

The meal plans I provide as part of my weight management or sports nutrition packages are designed to be simple and easy to follow, with ingredients that are commonly found in grocery stores. While I do provide recommendations for certain foods and supplements, they are not essential.
