Whether you’re looking for one-off race day consultations to prepare your fuelling strategy, or longer term nutrition coaching packages to improve your performance, you’re in the right place.
I am qualified with a Distinction in the Certificate in Sports Nutrition from the Centre of Integrative Sports Nutrition so I’m experienced to help athletes of all levels (from enthusiastic amateurs to professionals) to eat better, feel better and perform better.
But I also know what you’re experiencing first hand! I’m a keen marathon runner and have completed twenty marathons worldwide, seven since a total hip replacement. I’m an Abbott Six Star Finisher, having completed London, Berlin, Tokyo, Chicago, New York and Boston.
Additionally, I am proud to say I’ve also completed the England Athletics Leadership in Running Fitness Qualification. The course has enhanced my running knowledge, preparing me to provide a safe and enjoyable running experience for runners of any ability. The course covers risk assessment, warm-ups, cool downs, and how to lead fun running sessions for a mixed ability group of runners.

The DUTCH test provides comprehensive insights into your hormonal health. This advanced hormone test analyses how your body metabolises key hormones such as oestrogen, cortisol, and DHEA. Beyond hormones, it provides valuable information on nutritional deficiencies, oxidative stress, gut dysbiosis, melatonin levels, and neuroinflammation. FAQs: Frequently Asked Questions about Sports Nutrition
A nutritionist uses evidence-based science to assess your diet, lifestyle, and health goals, then creates practical strategies to help you improve your nutrition.
A holistic nutritional therapist typically takes a broader mind-body view and may incorporate a wider approach to health. Your personalised nutrition plan can, for example, also include elements of sleep advice, tools for recovery and alternative or complementary remedies.
My practice at Janie Perry Nutrition is grounded in science-led, clear, and personalised nutrition, with a strong focus on sustainable results, performance, and wellbeing. Find out how I have helped clients achieve these here.
What’s the difference between a nutritionist and a holistic nutritional therapist?
1
A sports nutrition assessment looks at the key factors that influence performance, fuelling, recovery, and body composition. We review:
Your training load and schedule
Current nutrition habits
Your hydration and electrolyte needs
Race-day or competition routines (including race week, the night before, the all important race day breakfast and the race itself)
Recovery strategies
Supplements appropriate for your training, everyday lifestyle and recovery
Testing, including one-off genetic testing.
You’ll leave with a clear, personalised fuelling strategy designed to support performance, health, and consistency in training.
What happens in a sports nutrition assessment?
2
Do you offer online nutrition consultations?
3
Yes. All Janie Perry Nutrition consultations are carried out online, making it easy to work together from anywhere. You’ll receive the same detailed assessment, tailored plan, and follow-up support as you would in person. We use the same link for each consultation to keep things simple.
Yes. I regularly support clients experiencing perimenopause and hormone-related changes in weight, energy, cravings, and body composition.
We focus on nutrition, balanced meals, strength training, sleep, stress and supplements (if appropriate), helping you understand what your body needs during this transition and what strategies actually make a difference.
Can you help with perimenopause or hormonal weight changes?
4
How can I manage sugar cravings? Can you help?
5
Absolutely. Sugar cravings often have clear nutrition-related triggers such as low protein intake, irregular meals, stress, poor sleep, or undereating earlier in the day. We’ll identify what’s driving your cravings and build a personalised plan to improve blood sugar balance, appetite regulation, and emotional relationship with food so you feel more in control, without strict rules or deprivation.
I’m a busy person. Are your recommendations quick and easy to implement?
6
Yes, very! We make it work for you! After our initial consultation, we’ll have a good idea of what your life requirements are and any constraints. We then check in and change these during our follow-up sessions, too.
Do you provide recipes and meal plans? Will your recipe packs work for me?
7
I can provide recipe packs suitable for your needs. There are also loads of recipes you can browse here.
My recipe packs work for all dietary requirements including pescatarians, vegetarians, and vegans. It doesn’t matter if you have high-energy needs or are looking at a low carb lifestyle, I have recipe packs for you! Get in touch and we’ll see what works in your case.
Do I need to be a runner or athlete to book sports nutrition sessions?
8
Not at all. Sports nutrition is for anyone who trains regularly, wants to improve performance, or simply wants to feel stronger, more energised, and better fuelled. I work with runners, gym-goers, cyclists, team-sport athletes, and people who are simply active and want to get more out of their training.
What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies?
9
My recommendations will always work with dietary restrictions and food allergies.
Will I need to purchase any special ingredients or supplements?
10
The meal plans I provide as part of my weight management or sports nutrition packages are designed to be simple and easy to follow, with ingredients that are commonly found in grocery stores. While I do provide recommendations for certain foods and supplements, they are not essential.
